I am glad to say the wonderful scholars call me Ms. Shay and I show up with excitement and expectancy every single day!
I am new to the Montessori world and actively taking steps to pursue my Montessori Certification. Everyday is a beautiful learning experience so as a naturally inquisitive person and lifelong learner, I absolutely love this and could not ask for a better place to be!
I was born in Gary, IN and went to an amazing school called Brunswick Elementary that shaped my love for English Language Arts. While I was there, I learned that aspects of language arts such as phonics, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and reading are the gateway to scholastic excellence in any subject. I still believe that to this day! It brings pure joy to my heart when I teach those things to the scholars! I strive to make learning engaging and enjoyable while I also exude care, compassion, and respect towards each individual need the children may have.

I graduated from Portage High School and moved to Indy for a good amount of years to work in different industries such as e-commerce, transportation logistics, finance, and tech while I pursued a higher learning degree. I am glad to be northwest again as I am blessed and highly favored to be married with two amazing children now. My son goes to Valpo High, he’s on the basketball team, and he studies aviation/flight with hopes of obtaining his private pilot’s permit next year at 16 years old. His dream is to attend Purdue for their flight tech program as well as their basketball program. He is dedicated and determined just like his mom! My husband is with the carpenter’s union and he is currently working hard to build the new hotel in Valpo. My daughter is a precious, precocious, peculiar young lady going on two years old who will soon join me in the brilliance of the Montessori world.
